Michael Gorton
Licensed Funeral Director

Michael J. Gorton, Jr., knew he wanted to be a funeral director at a young age. As a young boy he recalls running around the funeral home after his uncle and godfather, Charles Lorey, wondering what he was doing. He remembers watching hearses pull in the courtyard of Morton Funeral Home in Ridgewood, Queens after funerals.
When Michael was getting ready to choose a college, he knew he wanted to go to school that would give him the best education and put him in the best position to help people. He chose St. John’s University and enrolled in their Mortuary Science program. For four years Michael attended the Queens campus of St. John’s getting his Bachelor of Science in Funeral Service Administration and minoring in Business Administration. One of the years was spent in NYC studying at American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Michael graduated in the Spring of 1995 from St. John’s ready to serve those in need.
Following graduation, before Michael could become licensed in the State of New York, he had to do a one year residency in a funeral home. He chose to continue his training at the same funeral home his uncle did, Morton Funeral Home. In the early fall of 1997, Michael was licensed by the State of New York to practice funeral directing.
In February of 1998 he decided to join the family funeral home in Medford, NY and become a director under his aunt and uncle at McManus-Lorey Funeral Home. Michael has cherished his time working under his aunt and uncle, learning the ropes of a family business while giving every family the utmost care and attention that they deserve. No family is alike and Michael prides himself at working to be part of each family that trusts him and McManus-Lorey Funeral Home with the care of their loved one. Michael has always said, “I truly enjoy working with each family to honor their loved one they entrust us to care for. If I can make them feel at ease and perhaps take a burden off of their shoulders, then I have done my service to them at the worst possible time in their lives.
Michael has been involved in the Medford community for a very long time. He has served on community round tables with legislative leaders, he is a past president of Medford Chamber of Commerce.
In July of 2020, Michael was elected President of the Nassau Suffolk Funeral Directors Association. He has served on the board in various positions including Vice-President, Bylaws, Nomination, Health Facilities liaison as well as co-chairperson on the EDRS Ad Hoc Committee.
Michael is also an active member in the New York State Funeral Directors Association. In August of 2022 he was elected Secretary of NYSFDA. In 2017, Michael was selected to be apart of the New York State Funeral Directors Association Leadership Academy. He graduated in in August of 2018. He currently is the Chairperson with NYSFDA Tribute Foundation. He is also part of the Bridge Commission and serves on the Convention and Continuing Education Committee and the Government Affairs Committee.
Michael lives in Rocky Point, with his wife, Melissa and their son, Gabe. Michael is involved in his community at home where he served as President of the North Shore Beach Association from 2015 -2019. He currently is the treasurer of NSBPOA as well as Assistant Scout Master with Troop 244 in Rocky Point.
In Michael’s free time he enjoys days at the beach in Rocky Point, cooking BBQ for friends and family, relaxing in his backyard and drinking local craft beer and local wine.

Christian C. Lorey, NYS Licensed Funeral Director. For most of my young life, funeral directing was never an interest of mine. I often thought about where I would fit in as a career that I would enjoy. After graduating high school in 2001, a love of cars and trucks brought me to pursue a career in the automotive industry. I attended Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, AZ shortly after high school and graduated in 2003. Started my first career as an Automotive Technician at Sunrise Toyota in Oakdale, NY. During the 5 years that I worked at Sunrise Toyota I met my wife Siobhan. In 2008 I left Toyota and made the decision to try working in the funeral industry at our family funeral home, McManus-Lorey Fuenral Home. In September of 2008 I enrolled in the Mortuary Science Program at Nassau Community College and began my journey to become a licensed Funeral Director. Graduated from Nassau Community College in 2011 and became licensed in NYS in 2013 becoming 2nd generation Licensed Funeral Director in the family. Shortly after graduating I married my wife Siobhan and soon purchased our first home in Ridge, NY. Our son Conor Patrick Lorey was born March 19, 2014. We currently reside in the neighborhood of Lake Panamoka in Ridge, NY.
Jessica D. Fazio
Licensed Funeral Director
Phone: 631-732-1112
Email: jessica@mcmanuslorey.com
Jessica grew up in West Babylon, NY and graduated 5th in her senior class of 2012. She went on to study Forensic Science, minoring in Chemistry, at LIU C.W. Post. Two years into her degree, she realized that she was on the wrong side of the field. Instead of analyzing crime scenes and evidence, she wanted to be where her compassionate and empathetic nature could help heal those in grief while she cared for their loved ones who had passed. This realization drove Jessica to switch majors and transfer to Nassau Community College in 2014, where she began her studies in Mortuary Science. In May of 2016, Jessica graduated, holding honors, with a degree in Mortuary Science. She then went on to complete her residency and pass her license exam.
After holding several Licensed Funeral Director positions at other funeral homes, Jessica struggled to find a funeral home that met her values in the field. To her, this industry was never seen as just a ‘job’ or a source of income. She considers it a true vocation in life, her calling. It is Jessica’s greatest privilege to be able to care for the loved ones of others for the very last time. It is a responsibility that she does not take lightly. Being able to honor the lives of those who pass on brings deep meaning and purpose to her life.
Jessica took a hiatus in the field in 2022 while she was pregnant. Her and her husband, Joseph, became first time parents to a beautiful, healthy and happy daughter named Lydia in June of that year. A few months later, after adjusting to motherhood, she felt like something was missing and as a true blessing, her words, she came upon McManus-Lorey Funeral Home… a family funeral home who truly made her feel like family. Through conversation about the industry, it was immediately evident to Jessica that she had found where she belonged. Sharing the same core beliefs of doing right by the families and putting them first made her proud to represent them as the first outside Licensed Funeral Director to be hired.
