Unfortunately on Sunday I was not feeling well so I was unable to read this at the memorial. So i will leave it here.
When I think of Big Arthur I am flooded with memories of my childhood and if it's alright, I'd like to share some of those today.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is MiKenna, I'm one of little Arthur's chosen big sisters.
When Big Arthur moved in, he really was like family. I used to sit on his steps and wait for him to come home, as annoying little kids do, but he was always so good with me.
When I discovered how to use the microwave, he was the first one to try my creations -always followed by a drawn out MMMMMMM!
He used to love making silly bets with me and my friends like who could hula hoop the longest.. we would always double down and as a result… he would ALWAYS win.
I remember him *trying* to teach me how to dance and it always ending in “ya just gotta FEEEL the rhythm girl! Ya got no rhythm!!”
I remember him and my mom buying the knock off mac and cheese and trying to pass it off as Kraft to save a couple cents knowing damn well we hated it because it tasted like cardboard.
I remember him always trying to hide in the back of pictures or volunteering to take it cause he hated being photographed; unless of course, he was taking one of his legendary selfies.
I remember him always being there when you needed him. Not just for his family, but for anyone.
Arthur was one of the most selfless people I have known and I wish I appreciated it more while he was here. So I invite you all to think back to a time where someone has gone above and beyond for you and just reach out to say thankyou because if Arthur's sudden passing has taught me anything, it's that life is too short.
He may have driven me crazy on many occasions, but he was always there to lend a hand or listen and I'm so grateful for that.
I don't remember my life before him, and I can't imagine our lives without him, but wherever he is, I hope he's on a beach somewhere drinking some moonshine and eating hot wings.
I love you forever and a day, I miss you, and I will always be your little Ken Ken.
