So many of my childhood memories are times spent with my Godfather, Uncle Joe. All the times we spent together. Going to Alice's and getting candy, I loved those giant lollipops, and the bottom drawer in his kitchen where he would keep them hidden for me. Going to McDonald's for breakfast. We always got pancakes. That crazy morning after Halloween in 1980, when we saw fire trucks as we were pulling out after our pancake breakfast and decided to followed them. They stopped infront of my house. I was so scared and the cops wouldn't let us stop. He assured me everything would be okay and kept me safe until he was able to bring me home to my mom. It was always so great to see him in the hallway in school. How everyone knew and loved him. The list goes on and on. So glad to have so many wonderful memories to keep him alive and close in my heart forever.

Ich liebe dich, Onkel Joe. You inspired me to take German in school. You encouraged me to practice the guitar, and even patiently gave me lessons. Thank you for taking me for rides on your tractor And for inviting me to eat dinner at your house so often. And thank you for playing your trumpet after dinner so that all the kids, up and down Blydenburgh Rd could rush out the door to come listen to you playing your favorite instrument.
Mostly, thank you for always knowing the importance of family, being there for us in times of need and in times of celebration. It was never a real party unless Uncle Joe was there with us-and you made sure you were always there.
Take care of Aunt Theresa and my Mom.
Ich liebe dich.
~your niece debbie
PS Remember the song you wrote for me 40+ years ago?
“ I Don’t Cry Anymore”
Well, I’m crying again. I’ll always miss you.
